Makena Barnett

This musical marks Makena’s 50th show that she’s had the pleasure to be in. Some shows you may have seen her in include Ocean in Ride the Cyclone, Mary Lane in Reefer Madness, and Veronica in Heathers. She’d like to thank her friends, family, and fiancé for supporting her and singing along with her throughout the years.


Lorna Baxter

Lorna Baxter is a local theatre professional who is very excited to be portraying Julia in A Gentleman’s Ploy, while also participating in her first Fertile Ground Festival! A graduate of The Royal Conservatoire of Scotland with her Master’s in Musical Theatre, she’s performed across the world, including the Edinburgh Fringe. Most recently she was Maria Rainer in The Sound of Music with Columbia Theater Arts Foundation and Patty Simcox in Grease at Broadway Rose. Other credits include Gabrielle in R&H Cinderella, Amy March in Little Women, and Lily Craven in The Secret Garden. A big thank you to everyone for their love and support. Enjoy the show!


Andrew Hallas

Andrew Hallas has been performing within the Portland Metropolitan theater community for over a decade, returning to the Fertile Ground Festival with the cast of The Gentleman's Ploy. A lover of musical theater, Andrew has worked with several companies in the area, including Broadway Rose in Cinderella, Clackamas Repertory Theatre in The Sound of Music, and most recently Stumptown Stages in their production of Oliver! He also spends his time performing murder mystery events with The Murder Mystery Company. Outside of the stage, Andrew is an enormous nerd, enjoying anime and TTRPG's.


Molly Harvis

Molly Harvis (she/her) makes her debut with Chapel Theatre as Cherry. After time away, she recently returned to the stage as Meg March in Magenta Theater’s production of Little Women. When not acting, Molly works as the Statewide Jury Coordinator for the Oregon Judicial Department, where she champions civic education and community empowerment. A dedicated musician, she plays trumpet in several local groups. Outside of work and performance, she loves taking on new crafts, adventuring with her dog, and preparing to become the world’s coolest aunt. Her performance is dedicated to her family and Paul, the joyful chaos in her life.


Jack Harvison

Jack is very excited to join the cast of The Gentleman's Ploy for Fertile Ground Festival. This will have been his second time on the Chapel Theater Stage, previously participating in the 10 Minute play festival! Audiences may have seen him as Jesus in JC: Gospel According to an Angel and in the ensemble of Darcelle: That’s No Lady with Triangle Productions, Tom in Starbird Theatre's These Shining Lives as well as Johnny/Parris in Live in 3, 2, 1… at Love Street Playhouse. When not on stage or running lines, he enjoys playing music, painting, and watching movies. He would like to give thanks to his family for their undying support.


Debbie Hunter

Debbie Hunter is delighted to participate in bringing this new musical to an audience! Hooray for Mrs Bingham! A Chicago native, but long-time Portland-based performer, Debbie has appeared in dozens of shows both musical and non-musical at area theaters including Portland Center Stage, Dallas Theater Center, Musical Theater Company, Lakewood Theater, Stumptown Stages, Quintessence, and Mock’s Crest, where she was honored with a Drammy Award for her portrayal of Charlotte in A Little Night Music. She most recently appeared onstage as Meg in Damn Yankees and Mrs. Dashwood in Sense and Sensibility at Clackamas Rep. Debbie has also performed with the Oregon Symphony, and was chosen to participate in the International Cabaret Conference at Yale University. Debbie received her B.F.A. in Music Theater from Illinois Wesleyan University. She is very grateful to her charming and talented husband Connor and two cats (who tolerate her singing as long as it does not go above E flat).


Jayce Jennings

Jayce Jennings (He/They) is overjoyed to be a part of The Gentleman’s Ploy here in Portland! Jayce recently obtained their AAOT in Performing Arts, as well as a first year certificate of completion from the Great Lakes Michael Chekhov Consortium. Jayce’s most recent roles include Noel Gruber in Ride The Cyclone at Twilight Theater, Herod in Jesus Christ Superstar at Mount Hood Community College (MHCC), Everybody in Everybody at MHCC, Rich in Be More Chill at MHCC, Ensemble in Midwinter Revels with Portland Revels, and Ensemble in Reefer Madness at Theater In The Grove. They want to thank their pets and loved ones for being supportive in all their artistic adventures!


Murren Kennedy

Murren is very excited to stepping outside of his comfort zone and into musical theatre for once. Previous roles include Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, Fluellen in Henry V, and Claudio in Much Ado About Nothing with Salt and Sage, Polixenes in The Winter’s Tale with Portland Shakespeare Project, Iron Jo in The Ballad of Iron Jowith Bag&Baggage, Banquo in Macbeth and Longaville in Love’s Labour’s Lost with Portland Actors Ensemble, and an Irishman and a very lost Brit in two shows with Portland Revels. Wendy's has performed in the Portland Area for many years, with leading roles in Grand Night For Singing, Hairspray, A Few Stout Individuals, Kiss Me Kate, Into the Woods, many shows for Oregon Children's Theatre and as a soloist with the Oregon Symphony Pops, as well as her cabaret shows at Beacocks and Wilf’s. TV credits include Lucky Eagle Casino, Fred Meyer, Brookstone, Epic Imaging, and feature films The River Why, Inconceivable and Sorority House Massacre. Excited to be a part of this delightful show!


Megan Misslin

Megan Misslin (she/her) returns to the Fertile Ground Festival after last appearing - at least a decade ago - in several iterations of the 4x4 Mini Musicals. Born and raised in the Portland area, Megan holds a BA in Dance with a Theatre Arts minor from Loyola Marymount University, and has also worked locally as a choreographer, director, coach and teacher. Favorite credits include Pete the Cat with Oregon Children’s Theatre, Bonnie in Anything Goes with Lakewood, Babette in Beauty & the Beast with Pixie Dust Productions, Ellie May in Showboat with Portland Opera, Demeter in Cats with Broadway Rose, and the New York Musical Theater Festival premiere of Zombie Strippers in New York City. You can also catch her in another Fertile Ground production, the play Anonymous on April 12 and 19. Love to family & friends for their endless support.

Mark is happily making his Chapel Theater debut (and hopefully not a simultaneous swan song)! Thanks to Matt for inviting me to join the party. Ever since his father schlepped him on stage some 60 years ago, he has been playing pretend at some theatre or another from NY to FL and, since 2014, OR. Past roles are like children - you really can’t pick a favorite. That having been said ... favorite roles include: Franklin in 1776(OTAS Award), Bigley in How to Succeed..., Governor von Richterhenkenpflichtgetruber (no, that’s not a typo) in Desperate Measures, Pseudolus in A Funny Thing..., Sid in Ah, Wilderness!, Lenny in Rumors, Claude in The Baker’s Wife, Dr. Brewer in the East coast premiere of K-PAX and, most recently, Weller in The Gin Game. Thanks to Darius and Liz for unending support and to Julian for being the Best. Grandson. Ever!

Jay is thrilled to be joining the cast of the world premiere of The Gentleman’s Ploy for their Portland theater debut! A recent transplant from Southern California, Jay has been a theatre professional both onstage acting and offstage playing in pits for almost a decade. Recent favorite projects include King Charles in Pippin (Sherwood Center for the Arts), Svec in Once (Electric Company Theatre), Judd Fry in Oklahoma! (Gem Theater), and Mr. Banks in Marry Poppins (Disneyland Resort Flashback). Thank you to Shayna and Kiwi for being the best line coach/dance partners an actor could ask for. Enjoy the show!

Adam John Roper holds a BFA in theatre from NYU/Tisch School of the Arts, having studied at the Stella Adler Studio and the Experimental Theatre Wing. Role highlights include: Raskolnikov in Crime and Punishment, Cocky in Greasepaint, Jasper in The Inheritance, Chiron in Lightning Thief, Bradley in Five Golden Rings and Florizel in Winter’s Tale. Brandy Schnaars is delighted to be working with this wonderful team on The Gentlemen’s Ploy. Portland audiences may have seen her at Lakewood Theatre, NWCT, Oregon Children’s Theatre, Funhouse Lounge, and other local venues. She believes strongly in pursuing what brings people joy, and for her that joy is theater. Next, she will appear in Into the Woods at Mt. Hood Repertory Theatre in August 2026.
